Police said the man had been sitting in the foyer of the station for some time prior to the attack.

Luckily, the man surrendered without further incident after a quick-thinking female officer drew her gun.

The area was locked down while specialist police were called in to search the man’s vehicle which was parked outside of the building.

The lockdown was lifted and the area declared safe a short time later.

The 38-year-old man from West Gladstone has since been charged with going armed as to cause fear and will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident.
