A man has died after being shot by Police on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.
Officers were called to a home on Robertson St in Taree around 1.15pm on Wednesday afternoon after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man.
Police tried to speak to the 40-year-old who officers believed was armed with a knife.

The man remained holed up inside the home for several hours while Police negotiators tried to speak with him.
Around 10.15pm, Tactical Operations officers forced their way into the home before being confronted by the armed man.
Police tried using a taser on him but it didn’t subdue him, before officers opened fire.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Manning Base Hospital where he died a short time later.
A crime scene has been set up at the home while a Critical Incident investigation has also been launched.
