Kookaburras take No.1 ranking with Hockey World League victory
Australia’s Kookaburras have taken to spot in the world rankings after claiming back-to-back Hockey World League titles in India.
The side withstood late pressure from Argentina to seal the 2-1 victory.
Jeremy Hayward opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Agustin Bugallo equalised just a minute later.
It was Blake Glovers who proved the difference after scoring a goal in the 58th minute of the clash.
The win means the Kookaburras leapfrog Argentina into the world No.1 ranking ahead of a year featuring the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the Hockey World Cup.
