Gold Coast Nursing Awards

Kym Job wins 1029 Hot Tomato’s Gold Coast Nursing Award for January

A recovery nurse from John Flynn Private Hospital, who treats her patients like close friends, has won 1029 Hot Tomato’s Gold Coast Nursing Award for January.

Kym Job was nominated for the award by Melinda Madden, who told myGC Kym went out of her way everyday for her patients. “Recently I was in hospital having a couple of day procedures. Kim was looking after me in recovery and knew the results of my tests were bad. She was so caring and comforting and went out of her way to make me feel very comfortable and supported.”

Ms Madden said after she was diagnosed with cancer, Kym offered her extra support. “We have exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch. I am now about to embark on a frightening journey having this cancer operated on and then chemo. Kim has already said for me to call her anytime with any questions or worries. I do think this is the beginning of a really nice friendship and I would love for her to be recognised as a very special nurse.”
