Kyrgios fined following outrageous sledge in Montreal
UPDATE: NICK Kyrgios has been fined and booed following appalling comments made against dual grand slam winner Stan Wawrinka during Wednesday’s second-round Rogers Cup clash at the Montreal Open.
The controversial tennis star has been heavily fined US$10,000 (A$13,580) for the sledge.
During the match, Kyrgios walked towards his Swiss opponent and delivered a line of personal trash-talk that was picked up by television cameras.
The 20-year-old Kyrgios, taunted Wawrinka, 30, in a comment that mentioned fellow Australian youngster Thanasi Kokkinakis.
“Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend, sorry to tell you that,” Kyrgios said.
Stan Wawrinka who split up with his wife in April – is reportedly dating Croatian tennis player Donna Vekic, who is 19.
The 30-year-old voiced his disapproval towards Kyrgios’ on-court comments.
Kyrgios took to Twitter to apologise for the sledge, stating his comments were made in the heat of the moment.

Kyrgios won the match after Wawrinka retired hurt, trailing 0-4 in the third set. Wawrinka won the first set 7-6 and Kyrgios took the second 6-3.
The Aussie will face John Isner in the next round.
