Lanes closed as police respond to fatal incident on M1

A PERSON has been run over and killed by a truck after reportedly jumping in front of traffic on the M1.

It happened in the northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway at Pimpama around 6pm.

It’s understood the deceased person jumped off an overpass and into the path of the truck.


The person suffered horrific injuries and died at the scene. Their age and gender is not known.

Police have closed all northbound lanes and are diverting traffic around the scene via Exit 49.

A police spokesperson confirmed the incident to myGC and said northbound lanes would remain closed for “at least a few hours” while the scene is examined.

Traffic was backed up for several kilometres at 7pm.
