A WOMAN from North Queensland was unlucky in the attempt to rescue her puppy from a large python.
The fox terrier was strangled by a 4.2-metre-long snake on Sunday at a property at Speewah, about 30km inland from Cairns.
Neighbours also stepped in to help remove the snake from the puppy, but unfortunately it was too late.
