Drama as car wipes out fire hydrant booster outside Gold Coast unit complex
RESIDENTS got a shock last night when a sedan smashed into a fire hydrant outside their unit complex on the Gold Coast, sending a torrent of water gushing down their street.
The dramatic scenes unfolded on Park Avenue in Burleigh Heads around 9pm on Saturday.
The red sedan mounted a footpath before smashing into a fire hydrant booster box outside The Village Apartments.

The impact was so great, the hydrant was ripped out of the ground, sending water gushing onto the road and down the sloping street.
The 22-year-old local man behind the wheel of the car walked away uninjured.
Thankfully, no bystanders were injured.
