Lennox beach re-opened following confirmed shark sighting

UPDATE : Lennox Beach in the Ballina area has now been re-opened (1.30pm – Thursday 6 August 2015), following a confirmed shark sighting this morning.

A large shark was spotted swimming about 50 meters off Seven Mile Beach around 11.15am this morning.

As a result of this, Lennox beach was closed as a precaution.

EARLIER : Lennox beach in the Ballina area has been closed from 11.15am to 1pm today (Thursday 6 August 2015), due to a confirmed shark sighting this morning.

A large shark was spotted swimming about 50 meters off Seven Mile Beach.

As a result of this, until 1pm today, Lennox beach has been closed.

Police are continuing to work with Surf Life Saving Australia, and local council officials to monitor the situation.
