Lifeguards warning to Gold Coasters after mass-rescue

Lifeguards have issued a warning to parents these school holidays, after a mass rescue was carried out on the Gold Coast over the weekend.

A large group of children had to be saved from the water in Southport on Saturday afternoon, after they were spotted in distress.

Lifeguards say they rescued eight children under the age of 10 from the Broadwater, who had ‘minimal swimming ability’.
