Lifeguards have issued a warning to parents these school holidays, after a mass rescue was carried out on the Gold Coast over the weekend.
A large group of children had to be saved from the water in Southport on Saturday afternoon, after they were spotted in distress.
Lifeguards say they rescued eight children under the age of 10 from the Broadwater, who had ‘minimal swimming ability’.

Luckily, the group of children were okay, and no further assistance was required once they were rescued.
The incident has prompted a warning to parents to keep a close eye on their children these school holidays.
