Pilot walks away from light plane crash in Southport
UPDATE: AN ELDERLY pilot has walked away from a plane crash at Southport Flying Club.
It’s thought the 75-year-old’s single-engine fixed wing aircraft lost power as he was landing and crashed into a tree near the runway, behind Coombabah State High.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 9.50am, but the man didn’t suffer any major injuries. He was taken to Allamanda Private Hospital as a precaution.
However, the light plane appears to be worse for wear and will need to be extracted from the tree.
