Light plane erupts into flames after crashing on California freeway
Two people have been pulled from the wreckage of a light plane which crash-landed on a major freeway in Orange County, California.
The Cessna 310 aircraft came down just short of a runway at John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa, bursting into flames about 9:30am Friday local time.
Two people, understood to be a man and woman aged in their 50s and 60s, were pulled from the burning wreckage and rushed to a local hospital.
Miraculously, no cars were struck by the plane, however the crash brought traffic on the highway to a halt.
An investigation is underway.
