Linda Reed Murder: Police make fresh appeal for witnesses

Linda Reed was just 21-years-old when she was abducted from Pacific Fair shopping centre in 1983 and killed.

The young worker went on her lunch break on December 13 and never returned.

Three days later, her body was found, along with her light coloured Mazda sedan, on Millaroo Drive at Gaven Forest Estate, which is now Helensvale.

A 51-year-old man was this week charged over the horrific killing and remanded in custody, charged with one count of murder.

Detectives investigating the case are now appealing for any members of the public who have not previously come forward to do so.

In particular, cold case investigators are specifically appealing for anyone who:

  • Observed a man behaving suspiciously in the carpark or within close proximity of Pacific Fair Shopping Centre on December 13, 1983 between 9am and 1:00pm;
  • Observed a man on Gaven Way (now Pacific Highway) in the vicinity of the intersection with Habana Street on December 13, 1983 between 12pm and 3pm.

They’ve also released a map, showing what the area would have looked like in 1983 in the hope to spark someone’s memory.
