Little Athletics CEO Simon Cook said the organisation embodied family, fun and fitness.
“The McDonald’s Little Athletics Program recognises that children vary widely in shape, size and athletic ability. We aim to cater for everyone and have events for all levels of skill and fitness.
“Our centres are home to qualified coaches who provide participants with guidance and plenty of encouragement to achieve personal bests.
“McDonald’s Little Athletics also offers opportunities for parents to become fully involved in their child’s sporting interests through officiating, recording results, working in our canteens and managing age groups,” he said.
Simon said the benefits of the program were evidenced by its ongoing success.
“Over the last two years we have seen record numbers sign up for Little Athletics programs across Queensland.
“This level of participation is not only great for the future of athletics in Australia, but also for the wider community.
“By encouraging children to take part in sport we can help them to develop positive habits for the future and build a healthier society.
“The recent success of our program is in part thanks to our dedicated sponsors such as McDonald’s who have assisted us in lowering registration fees and providing much needed equipment, so children can enjoy fun in the outdoors.
