Loaded semi-automatic rifle, explosives, meth found in Gold Coast raids

POLICE have uncovered a loaded semi-automatic rifle, stockpile of explosives and stash of crystal meth during a series of raids on the Gold Coast.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Firearms Squad executed the search warrants on properties in Bundall and Helensvale on Tuesday.

During the operation, officers allegedly located a loaded semi-automatic firearm, quantities of methamphetamines, ammunition, prescription pads, a quantity of a restricted drugs and two vehicles.


Three men were arrested and taken into custody, including two men from Bundall aged 24 and 25, and a 31-year-old from Helensvale.

The 25-year-old man was charged with 13 offences including possessing dangerous drugs, weapons, explosives and restricted drugs. He was refused bail in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old was charged with nine offences including supplying dangerous drugs, possessing a Category H and Category R weapon, and possessing explosives and tainted property.

He is expected to front Southport Magistrates Court on July 18.

The 31-year-old man from Helensvale was served with a notice to appear for possessing dangerous drugs, tainted property, explosives and utensils.
