Local celebrities to get stranded for sick kids

Fourteen of the Gold Coast’s most buoyant personalities will be stuck on a sandbar, in a bid to raise money for sick children.

The Celebrity Island fundraising challenge, this Friday October 6, will see the group marooned on a sandbar in the Gold Coast Broadwater where they will stay stranded until they raise enough money for Variety Queensland to earn a trip back to the mainland.

The group includes TV stars, comedians, characters from Draculas Cabaret Restaurant, a magician and many more high-profile Gold Coast personalities.

Variety Queensland Gael Chudleigh said the event is a fun way to raise money for children who are sick, disadvantaged, or have special needs.

“Variety is best known for putting the fun into fundraising and this is another very clear example of that,” Ms Chudleigh said.

“Nothing we do is ever conventional and we make sure that all of those people who put their hands up to help us out have wonderful experiences.”

Celebrity Island is a joint initiative of Variety and 1029 Hot Tomato. To hear all the action, tune into Flan & Emily Jade with Christo this Friday morning.
