Motorists urged to ‘name and shame’ most dangerous GC roads

Local drivers are being encouraged to help identify the most dangerous roads on the Gold Coast that they feel need urgent attention.

RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said the Club’s Unroadworthy Roads Survey 2018, which launched today, was a quick and easy way for motorists to voice their concerns.

“As drivers, we’re all too familiar with those frustrating and troublesome roads in our area. Whether it’s a road that’s full of potholes, is narrow, lacks overtaking lanes and line markings, or is the first to go under when it rains – we need your help in pinpointing it,” Ms Ross said.

“We’ll then use these results to lobby Local, State and Federal Governments to prioritise funding to upgrade and maintain these roads.

Ms Ross said drivers had already helped to get funding improvements for the Pacific Motorway through previous surveys.

“We all deserve to have a say on where we want our rates and taxes spent – but we can’t help get the right roads fixed if we don’t know where they are,” she said.

“You’re our eyes on the ground and your suggestions could help save lives, or simply make the commute a little more bearable for everyone using that particular road.”

If you participate in the survey, you’ll also go into the draw to win one of two $250 EFTPOS gift cards.

The survey, which closes on 18 June, can be found here.
