Logan bottle shop robbery: Man’s arm slashed with ‘bladed weapon’

A GOOD Samaritan has had his arm slashed with a bladed weapon whilst trying to stop a thief at a bottle shop in Logan overnight.

Police said that around 6.30pm, a man entered the Waratah Drive bottle-o and attempted to walk out of the shop without paying for his alcohol.

The 29-year-old male employee confronted the thief, who continued to leave the store.

A 60-year-old local man, who was a customer in the bottle shop, saw what was going on and followed the man outside and attempted to restrain him.

Police say the pair then got into an altercation, with the 60-year-old receiving a significant laceration to his arm from a ‘bladed weapon’.

The would-be-thief then fled the scene, leaving the alcohol behind.

Following investigations Logan detectives arrested a 20-year-old Waterford West man and charged him with armed robbery and immediately after wounded another.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

The injured man was transported to hospital for treatment.
