A Logan couple have been charged in relation to the horrifying assault of a 13-day-old baby boy in October last year.
Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit in a joint operation with the Child Trauma Task Force made the arrest this morning.
It is alleged that the baby was taken to a Gold Coast University Hospital with significant head injuries which were considered life threatening.

The child survived but sustained brain damage.
A 24-year-old woman and 28-year-old man have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to an infant.
The pair are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
Detective Acting Inspector Greg Aubort of the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit said the arrest was the culmination of a significant and protracted major investigation leading to today’s charges.
“While this matter is now before the courts and further specifics are not available it is important to recognise that all people who have care of a child have a responsibility for their protection under law.
“It is also important that we as members of our community and families remain vigilant to indicators of child abuse and take action to protect vulnerable children in our community,” said Detective Acting Inspector Aubort.
Investigations are continuing.
