Logan house fire victim Stanley Obi dies in hospital

Police have confirmed a man critically injured in a horror house fire in Logan has passed away in hospital.

Stanley Obi was rushed to hospital with burns to 90 per cent of his body after his former partner allegedly doused him with petrol and set him on fire.

The blaze erupted at a home in New Beith around 3am on Thursday, with Mr Obi’s new girlfriend also suffering minor burns in the inferno.

Thankfully his three children, aged between 2 and 5, managed to escape uninjured.

Queensland Police confirmed a short time ago that the 33-year-old succumbed to his injuries and sadly died just after 10.00pm last night.

Police are investigating the fatal fire as a suspected domestic violence incident.

His former partner, believed to be 31-year-old Sarah Mudge, died in the blaze.

Police say an autopsy will be conducted to confirm the woman’s identity.
