Logan man accused of setting former partner’s car on fire

A man has been charged with a string of domestic violence offences including stalking and arson after allegedly dousing his former partner’s vehicle in petrol and setting it alight.

Police say the 56-year-old man poured petrol onto the bonnet of the woman’s car while it was parked at a Logan Central business around 9.30am yesterday.

The blaze damaged the front of the vehicle, however, thankfully emergency crews were able to extinguish the fire before it spread any further.

Following investigations, police tracked down the man in Brisbane City around 2.20pm yesterday where he was arrested.

The man, from Logan Central, was charged with domestic violence offences including three counts of wilful damage, and one count each of stalking, assault occasioning bodily harm, arson, contravention of a police protection notice and trespass.

He was denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
