Logan man charged with rape over alleged New Years Day attack
A Logan man has been charged after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in a Brisbane laneway in the early hours of New Years Day.
It comes after detectives released CCTV footage on Wednesday afternoon, featuring a man they believed could assist with investigations.
Police said the 20-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in a laneway on Warner Street in Fortitude Valley about 4am on January 1.
“The woman managed to leave the laneway and seek help by a person passing by,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
Following a public appeal, a 19-year-old Marsden man was taken into custody overnight.
He has since been charged with rape and unlawful stalking.
He is due to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
