Logan man killed, another injured after car slams into tree

A Beenleigh man has died and another has been rushed to hospital after their car ploughed into a tree in Logan early this morning.

The vehicle is believed to have lost control and crashed while travelling along Beutel Street in Waterford West around 2.40am.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and helped free the 42-year-old male passenger from the wreckage of the vehicle.

He was treated by paramedics, including Critical Care and High Acuity Response Unit, for head injuries before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver, a 47-year-old man, died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or anyone with dashcam, to come forward.
