Christopher Koani received a life-sentence for his birthday today, appearing in court charged with the murder of his former girlfriend.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty earlier this month to the shooting death of Natalie Leaney, 26, in Rochedale South in 2013.
Koani is alleged to have murdered Leaney after learning she was planning to leave him.

In the Brisbane Supreme Court today he was jailed for life, with a 20-year minimum. His earliest release date will be 2032.
During his sentencing, Ms Leaney’s mother Deborah said the family had been given a “life sentence of heartache”.
She said her daughter used to call her daily at 3.30pm to check in and catch up on the day’s news. However now 3.30 comes and goes each day and with it an incredible sadness,” she said.
