LONG DELAYS: Friday afternoon traffic gridlock on M1

Motorists travelling on the Pacific Motorway this afternoon are being warned to brace for long delays.

Friday afternoon traffic is causing chaos for drivers, with congestion on the M1 pretty much all the way from Eight Miles Plains to Gaven.

There’s a short reprieve, before traffic begins to build again southbound from Robina.

It’s then bumper to bumper from Mudgeeraba to Palm Beach, with northbound traffic also heavily congested in the area.

According to the Department of Traffic and Main Roads, there’s no known incidents contributing to the delays.

Drivers are being urged to be patient and allow for extra travel time.

Here’s the reason, the roads are not built to handle the traffic and growth of the region. Their own reports and forecasts have shown that.

The roads are perfectly capable… between the hours of 8pm and 5am.
Any other time, expect delays
