Love This City: Gold Coast TV special to air on Channel Nine

THE GOLD Coast will be showcased in a television special on Channel Nine this weekend.

The 30-minute Love This City: Gold Coast program will air on Sunday at 5:30pm.

In a statement released earlier this week, Nine said the show will look at “the innovators breaking new ground, the growing groundswell of arts and culture, the divine lifestyle luring families to Australia’s sixth largest city”.

Nine News presenter Melissa Downes will explore the Coast’s arts and culture scene with the creators of The Village Markets Marissa Bowden and Sarah Schoeller and artistic director of Bleach Louise Bezzina.

“The Gold Coast has reinvented itself with every new wave to become a modern city in the sun, capturing the world’s attention with its vitality and creative energy. We are just so excited to be able to bring this story to our viewers,” she said in the statement.

Gold Coast News reporter Carrie Anne Greenbank will delve into the innovation and entrepreneurialism thriving in the region, from the laid back corporate structure of the Burleigh Brewing Company to university student Nick Pearce’s exciting café ventures. She will also touch on exciting developments in medical research leading the world in uncovering a vaccine for malaria.

Hot Tomato drive show host and Nine’s surf, beach and fishing expert Luke Bradnam will catch up with chief lifeguard Warren Young and proud local resident Trevor Hendy, before getting a feed at the Miami Marketta Street Food.

Andrew Lofthouse will wrap up the special by highlighting what’s next for the Coast such as revived parklands, shopping centre redevelopments, light rail links, a new China Town precinct, and employment opportunities.

LOVE THIS CITY: GOLD COAST is on Channel Nine on Sunday March 2 at 5:30pm.
