UPDATE @ NOVEMBER 24 | The popular Tallai General Store is open this morning, after an out of control car ploughed through a wall yesterday.
It comes as new footage emerges of the crash, showing a very close call for a customer inside the shop.
“Honestly, it’s remarkable,” owner Carl Schuetze told 1029 Hot Tomato’s Galey, Emily Jade and Christo.

“I didn’t look at the footage until later in the afternoon, but there was a customer that was literally greeted by the greeting car stand, as he walked in the card stand just pushed him out of the way.
“Another two steps and he would have bene a goner,” Carl said.
Luckily, the driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the crash as well, but was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
The shop closed throughout the afternoon, as locals came out in full support to try and help.
“We’ve had a lot of local support, the community is just fantastic out here in Mudgeeraba.
“I had guys come and say ‘look mate I can go down to my yard, open it up, get some timber for you’… yeah it’s been amazing,” Carl said.

EARLIER @ NOVEMBER 23 | A driver has managed to escape unharmed after accidentally crashing his car into a general store on the Gold Coast.
The vehicle lost control and ploughed into the Tallai General Store off Tallai Road just after 9.00am on Sunday.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was assessed at the scene by paramedics but he declined transport to hospital.
Thankfully no customers or staff were injured either.
The store has sustained a significant amount of damage, with the owners taking to Facebook this morning to confirm they will be shut for a number of hours.
