Lucky escape after child gets leg lodged in drain on the Gold Coast

A CHILD has had a lucky escape after becoming stuck in a drain on the Gold Coast.

The primary-school aged boy got his leg lodged in a drain along Bond University Ring Road at Varsity Lakes around 12.30pm on Friday.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the child was lucky to escape with only minor grazes to his leg.

Paramedics were called and treated the boy at the scene, although were not required to transport him to hospital.

It’s understood he was instead taken by his parents as a precaution.
