Lucky escape in hinterland crash

FOUR people have escaped injury after their 4WD ute left the road and slid down an embankment in the Gold Coast hinterland.

It happened on Beechmont Road at Beechmont on Sunday.

Gold Coast Tow Trucks was called to recover the Nissan Navara, which came to rest 50m down a slope in thick lantana.

It’s understood the driver lost control of the ute on the winding road and took out a speed sign before careening down the embankment.

The vehicle stopped just short of smashing into a large tree.

Paramedics attended the scene but incredibly, the driver and three passengers managed to escape unhurt.
