M1 crashes causing long delays for afternoon motorists

Bad news for anyone travelling on the Pacific Motorway this afternoon, with a number of crashes causing major delays for motorists.

At least three vehicles have collided southbound at Pimpama, with traffic quickly building in the area.

The accident is understood to have happened between the off and on ramp at Exit 49 around 4.20pm on Thursday.


Emergency crews including police and paramedics are on scene assessing those involved.

At this stage, just one man in his 50s has suffered a minor head injury, however he is in a stable condition.

Meantime, there’s been another multi-vehicle crash southbound just before Exit 89 in Burleigh Heads.

The Department of Traffic and Main Roads said all lanes have been affected, with traffic currently at a standstill.

Motorists are being warned to allow for extra travel time.

These “crashes” on the motorway are a daily occurrence.
Until drivers are made accountable for their actions they will continue to drive in a reckless manner without a worry about the consequences.
Slapping them with a $129 fine is not going to change driver behavior.
Make them redo a driving test to ascertain their skills behind the wheel.
