M1 Crash: Traffic halted as crews treat ‘significant leg injury’

EMERGENCY services are on the scene of a serious crash that has ground traffic to a halt on the M1 at Varsity Lakes.

It’s understood a motorcycle collided with a car in the southbound lanes just before the Burleigh Exit at about 2.20pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the motorcyclist sustained a “significant leg injury”.


The rider is reported to be conscious and in a stable condition and is being treated by paramedics at the scene.

Their gender and age was not immediately known.

Traffic has been thrown into disarray, with delays stretching for more than five kilometres at 2:40 PM.

Meanwhile, paramedics are on the scene of a crash involving a car and a pushbike at Burleigh Heads.

Crews were called to the scene on Tweed Street around the same time they were called to the accident on the M1.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said no life-threatening injuries have been reported.

No further information was available on either incident at the time of writing.
