M1 delays after crash leaves man in ‘serious’ condition

A man’s been rushed to hospital after an early-morning car crash on the M1.

Emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway in Stapylton just before 5.00 am.

It’s understood a car clipped another, before hitting a guard rail and bursting into flames.

A man was looked over at the scene, with reports he was thrown from the vehicle in the incident.

Paramedics report that he was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition, but haven’t provided details about his injuries.

The High Acuity Response Unit was on board for transport.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident caused a number of delays for early morning commuters, with traffic still back to Shailer Park around 7.00 am.

Paramedics also responded to a crash at Hope Island early this morning.

It happened along Masthead Way around 2.20 am. One man was assessed at the scene for a hand injury and taken in a stable condition to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

It’s always busy the M1, not just Easter time – honestly! ➡️

It’s also a favourite of the weaver birds. That’s those idiots who are so arrogant in their driving they weave from lane to lane to gain and extra car length. Tail gating is dangerous, especially on motorways but as soon as I leave enough space between me and the car in front, some air head idiot slips into it forcing me to brake. I would so like to get out and smack them in the face.
