Rider critical, M1 in gridlock after horror motorbike and car crash

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after colliding with a car on the Pacific Motorway this morning.

The accident occurred southbound at Helensvale just before 8.00am.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed to myGC that the rider of the motorbike, a man aged in his 30s, suffered “significant head and arm injuries”.

He has been rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Queensland Police are urging motorists to avoid the area, with long delays being experienced as two lanes remain closed.

“Delays are expected on the M1 southbound following a serious crash involving a motorbike and a car at Gaven between Helensvale and Smith Street,” police said.

“Motorists are advised to use alternate routes where possible.”
