Machete-wielding thieves on the run after robbing Gold Coast hotel

Investigations are underway after an Upper Coomera hotel was robbed at knife-point overnight.

Around midnight, two men smashed through the glass doors of the Maudsland Road business, armed with a machete and a ‘bat line implement’, according to police.

They gained entry into the gaming area, which was closed while staff members finished up for the night.

The pair confronted a 48-year-old man, demanding he empty the content of the tills into the bag they were carrying.

They then fled with the money, and were seen getting into a 2005 Nissan Navara with Queensland registration plates 504 ZYO.

Police say the car is stolen.

Luckily, no one was physically injured in the incident, but investigations are now underway.
