Magic Millions Raceday 2014: What you need to know

The Gold Coast Turf Club is set to host one of the biggest racedays of the year tomorrow – the Jeep Magic Millions Raceday.

Horse lovers, socialites and celebrities from around the globe are expected to join thousands of locals at the track for the event.

With a full day of activities planned both on and off the track, we want to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Here is a guide of everything you need to know for the Jeep Magic Millions Raceday:

10am – Bars to Open
11am – Function Venues Open
11am – Myer Magic Millions Fashions on the Field  Registrations Open
12pm – Trackside Entertainment with Marcus Mercer on the Southern Lawn
12:20pm – Myer Fashions on the Field Heats & Finals Begin
2:55pm – Gold Coast $1million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas
3:35pm – Jeep $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic
4:30pm – Body & Soul in the CPR Bar to Begin

Transport
TransLink is encouraging raceday fans to leave the car at home and travel to the Gold Coast Turf Club for free on public transport.

Customers can travel free to and from the Gold Coast Turf Club on hail ‘n’ ride shuttle buses from the following locations:

To the Turf Club
Tweed Heads – 9am, 9.30am, 10am, 10.30am, 11am
Surfers Paradise – 9am, 9.45am, 10.30am, 11.15am, 12pm, 12.45pm, 12.45pm, 1pm, 1.30pm, 1.45pm
Jupiters Casino – 9.45am, 10.45am, 11.45am, 12.45pm, 12.45pm, 1.45pm
Southport Workers’ Club – 10.30am
Runaway Bay – 10.30am
Evandale car park – loop service at regular intervals from 9.30am to 7pm

From the Turf Club
Tweed Heads – 5pm, 5.30pm, 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm
Surfers Paradise – regular intervals between 4pm and 7pm

Fashions on the Field
Myer Fashions on the Field will once again give trackside fashionistas the chance to showcase their unique summer racing style at the 2014 Jeep Magic Millions Raceday.

An amazing prize pool is on offer this year, including Myer Gift Cards, a ten day trip of a lifetime to the Melbourne Cup Carnival to compete in the National Final on Crown Oaks Day – The Ultimate Style Day, Calleija Jewellery to the value of $20,000, first class weekend stays at The Oracle in Broadbeach, R.M.Williams Gift Cards and much more.

Women’s Racewear
11am – 12pm sharp Registration (for pre-registered and on-the-day contestants)
12.20pm – 12.40pm Heats
12.45pm – 12.55pm Preliminary Finals
1.10pm – 1.25pm Final

Men’s Racewear
1pm – 1.35pm sharp Registration (for pre-registered and on-the-day contestants)
1.40pm – 1.50pm Heats
2pm – 2.15pm Final

Myer Ambassador Kate Peck said the judges will be looking for someone who shows style and originality.

“The judges are always looking for someone who is well groomed and presented,” she said.

“They want to see your take on the current fashion trends and how you can apply it to racing. Don’t forget, the winner’s outfit needs to be able to carry on through to Melbourne Cup in November, so they are looking for an outfit that has longevity too.”

Important Contest Criteria:
1. Contestants must be 18 years of age or more on event day
2. Contestants and their outfits are not permitted to have a commercial agenda (eg: cannot promote a brand, store, designer, milliner etc)
3. Contestants must not receive any compensation from a third party for entering this competition
4. In order to enter, female contestants must be wearing appropriate headwear
5. All prizes awarded to the contestant must remain their property
6. Contestants are not permitted to alter or add to their outfit in any way from the beginning until the end of the competition (including heats, preliminary finals, final and the National Final at the Melbourne Cup Carnival on Crown Oaks Day 2014.
