Major Comm Bank outage leaves customers stranded

UPDATE @ 4.00 PM | Commonwealth Bank says it’s still not known when services will be restored following a major outage today.
Services including some debit card payments, BPAY services, cardless cash, and in-branch services have all been affected, leaving hundreds of customers stranded.
The outage hit around midday on Thursday and has caused dozens of Commonwealth Bank branches to also temporarily close.
“We continue to experience an issue with our network this afternoon that is affecting banking services,” the bank said in a statement.
“We are very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you.”
They say crews are desperately trying to fix the issue.
“Our teams are working urgently to fix an issue with our network. We’re very sorry for this and thank customers for their continued patience while work to restore services.”
Commonwealth Bank has since confirmed that ATMs (except Cardless Cash and Cardless Deposits), EFTPOS merchant services, debit and credit cards are working.
EARLIER @ 12.30 PM | Dozens of Commonwealth Bank customers have been left stranded this morning whilst trying to complete transactions.
A widespread technology outage has affected the CommBank app, NetBank, cardless cash transactions and BPAY services, however the bank says their ATMs and point-of-sale terminals are still working.
The outage hit around midday on Thursday and has caused dozens of Commonwealth Bank branches to also temporarily close.
Commonwealth Bank says they’re desperately working to fix the issue.
“We are currently experiencing an issue affecting some of our services,” the bank tweeted.
“We are urgently investigating this and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
“Due to this incident some of our branches have temporarily closed.”

Customers have taken to social media to vent their frustration at not being able to use the services.
“Thanks for the embarrassment at the store. Tried to transfer funds to cover a purchase but couldn’t!” one person wrote.
“Maybe you could reimburse every customer with a $10 downtime charge for all of our lunches today like how you charge us $10 everytime we overdraw,” commented another.
