Motorists on the M1 are at a stand still at the moment, after a serious police incident through Burleigh Heads.
Emergency services were called to an incident in the northbound lanes through Burleigh Heads just before midday.
A number of lanes had to be blocked while emergency services were on scene, with cars banked up for kilometres.

It’s understood police are now diverting traffic off the motorway kilometres back at the border checkpoint at Stewart Road.
Motorists heading northbound on the Pacific Highway, just near the Tallebudgera Creek exit, should expect significant delays following an earlier incident. Traffic will be diverted at exit 95 for light vehicles, heavy vehicles will remain on the M1 #qldtraffic pic.twitter.com/vr6vpeM2Nc

While it looks as if other traffic is trying to get off the motorway around the Pines in Elanora, causing a nightmare for local roads.
The motorway northbound has essentially been closed between exits 89 and 87.
Heavy vehicles are allowed to remain on the motorway for now.
While southbound traffic is also seriously delayed.
