UPDATE: One person has been rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, following a multi-vehicle accident on the M1.

It’s believed they were inside a sedan that collided with a ute southbound on the Coomera River Bridge around 3.15pm.

The car then hit the barricade.
Their injuries are unknown. Four other people were also hurt, but are listed as stable.
EARLIER: A multi-vehicle crash is causing lengthy delays for motorists southbound on the Pacific Motorway this afternoon.
The accident occurred southbound at Upper Coomera, between Exit 54 and Exit 57 just after 3.15pm.
Emergency crews are working to free one person, believed to be trapped inside the wreckage of one of the vehicles.
Paramedics are treating four others at the scene. Their injuries are currently unknown.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area with major delays being experienced.
Traffic is currently at a standstill from Upper Coomera back to Ormeau.
