Major NSW hospitals subject to bomb threats

UPDATE: POLICE have confirmed they are actively investigating threats made to blow up four major public and private hospitals in Sydney this afternoon.

Detectives from Central Metropolitan Region are liaising with officers from the Department of Health to identify those responsible for the threats.

UPDATE: PATIENTS and staff evacuated from the Prince of Wales Private Hospital have been given the all clear to return.


A heavy police presences remains.

EARLIER: EVACUATIONS are reportedly underway as police respond to reports of threats to blow up four major New South Wales hospitals this afternoon.

First reports suggest around 3pm a number of patients were seen being evacuated from the top floors of the Prince of Wales Private Hospital.

Other hospitals reported to be involved include the Royal Prince Alfred, Royal North Shore and Lonueville Private.

Police have confirmed an operation is underway, but have declined to comment further.
