Missing elderly man found safe and well, Merrimac

UPDATE @ 8.30AM | An elderly man reported missing from Merrimac overnight has been found safe and well.

EARLIER @ 5.00AM | RESIDENTS in Merrimac are being urged to keep an eye out for an elderly man who could be missing in the area.

The 79-year-old was last seen at an address on Petherbridge Avenue at 4pm on Tuesday.


Queensland Police said he has not made contact with family or friends since and they are concerned for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition.

Officers are conducting a major search in the area in a bid to find Mr Parkes.

“His exact whereabouts are unknown, however, he is believed to be on foot in the local area,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“Residents in the area are asked to check their yards for Gerald.”
