Man, 21, charged with murder after fatal knife attack in Queensland

A 21-YEAR-OLD man is likely to spend Christmas and the start of the New Year behind bars, charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man to death at a house in far north Queensland overnight.

Police say they were called to reports of a stabbing at a house on Hagarty Close in Cooktown around 9.35pm.

They arrived to find a 41-year-old man inside the home with multiple life-threatening knife wounds.

Sadly, there was nothing police nor paramedics could do to save the man and he died from his injuries at the scene.

Investigations led officers to a house nearby a short time later where they arrested a 21-year-old man.

He was taken to the local police station and later charged with the 41-year-old man’s murder.

The 21-year-old was remanded in custody overnight and will front Cooktown Magistrates Court on November 6.

It was not immediately known how, or if, the two men were known to each other.

Investigations into the attack are continuing.
