Alleged killer charged after woman found dead

A 22-YEAR-OLD man will appear in court tomorrow, charged with murdering a woman more than 35 years his senior at a motel on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.

Police were responding to reports of a disturbance when they found the 58-year-old woman’s body outside the Ferry Street motel at Maryborough shortly after 5am on Saturday.

Detective Acting Inspector Wade Lee said the woman succumbed to life-threatening injuries and was already dead when emergency services arrived.

It’s understood witnesses heard a woman screaming before police and paramedics swooped on the scene.

A 22-year-old man was arrested last yesterday afternoon and spent the night in custody, being questioned by homicide detectives.

He has since been charged with murder and will appear in Marborough Magistrates Court on Monday.

The man’s relationship to the woman is not known.
