Man, 25, killed after ute hits tree

A YOUNG man has been killed after losing control of his ute and wrapping it around a tree NSW South Coast.

It happened on Gerroa Road, about 1km south of Beach Road, at Berry about 5.15pm on Saturday.

Police said emergency services arrived at the scene to find the man’s ute wrapped around a tree.


The 25-year-old man driving the vehicle was unable to revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, a 24-year-old, was seriously injured and flown to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of a van, a 34-year-old man, which was travelling in front of the ute before the crash was spoken to by police before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

A crime scene was established, and inquiries by officers from South Coast Police District are continuing.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
