A SEXUAL predator’s master plan to lure a young girl into having sex with him at a Brisbane hotel has been foiled after the victim he had been grooming online for the past two months turned out to be an undercover detective.
It’s alleged the 38-year-old man travelled from Victoria to Brisbane on Friday morning with the sole intention of meeting the girl and engaging in sexual activity at a Brisbane hotel after weeks of erotic online chats.
The 14-year-old girl was in reality, a covert member of the State Crime Command’s Task Force Argos team.

Investigators intercepted the man on Friday night at a Brisbane train station.
Investigators searched a Brisbane hotel room and later charged the man with six counts of using the internet to procure a person under sixteen and one count of using a carriage service to groom a child under sixteen.
Victoria Police’s Astraea Taskforce assisted with the investigation by executing a search warrant on a Victorian address where they seized four laptop computers, an ipad, hard drives and other computer related items.
The man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
