Man, 50, charged with raping 3-year-old girl at popular Australian ski resort

A 50-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with raping a 3-year-old girl at a ski resort in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

Police allege the man sexually assaulted the toddler as she holidayed with her family at Perisher Valley last month.

The attack is alleged to have occurred in a guest house on Wheatley Road on Saturday, July 15.


Following an intense investigation, the 50-year-old man was arrested at a home in Roseville on Friday.

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with having sexual intercourse with a child under 10.

The 50-year-old was also charged with one additional count of indecently assaulting a person under 16 years of age.

He was refused bail and due to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.

Police have confirmed the man is not known to the child or her family.

Perisher is the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere.

The incident has prompted detectives to investigate the movements of all guests at the chalet last month.

Child Abuse Squad Commander, Detective Inspector Peter Yeomans has urged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward.

“Our dedicated specialist investigators are trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect,” Det Insp Yeomans said.

“If you or anyone you know has ever been abused, no matter what the circumstance and no matter how long ago it occurred, please contact us.”
