A 71-year-old man has been charged with a string of serious domestic violence offences following the alleged horrific assault of a woman at a house in Queensland.
Just after 10.00pm on Sunday, officers were called to a home at Chandler, in Brisbane’s south, following reports a woman had been seriously injured.
According to police, the man allegedly forced his way into the home before assaulting a 68-year-old woman known to him with a wooden club.

“It will be alleged the man then threatened the woman before leaving the residence,” police said.
The man then fled the scene in a red dual cab utility, which was spotted by officers on the Cunningham Highway heading towards Warwick a short time later.
After failing to pull over, police were forced to initiate a pursuit which came to an end when the man drove into a dead-end street.
He was arrested by the Police Dog Squad and has been charged with 13 offences including deprivation of liberty, common assault, enter dwelling, contravention of a domestic violence order and unlawful stalking.
He appeared in the Warwick Magistrates Court yesterday.
