Man, 77, charged with attempted murder over neighbourhood stabbing

A 77-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to stab his neighbour to death in a frenzied attack in Sydney’s south over the weekend.

The elderly man is accused of stabbing his 50-year-old neighbour multiple times during a dispute at a unit block on President Ave at Miranda, around 1.45pm on Saturday.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to St George Hospital in a critical condition.


The 50-year-old underwent emergency surgery and is now said to be in a stable condition.

A 77-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Miranda Police Station for questioning.

He was yesterday charged with attempted murder and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The elderly man was scheduled to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
