Man accused of almost bashing his younger brother to death with a rock

A MAN has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition with a fractured skull after he was allegedly bashed over the head with a large rock by his older brother in Sydney’s west.

Police said an argument broke out between the brothers, aged 30 and 27, outside their Gurley Place home in Bonnyrigg shortly before one o’clock this morning.

The argument quickly escalated into a brawl, during which it’s alleged the older man armed himself with a large rock and used it to bash his younger brother over the head.


Police said the 27-year-old was struck repeatedly and collapsed at the scene. He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition with severe head injuries.

Police said the victim remains in hospital with a fractured skull and smashed eye socket. It’s understood he will require surgery.

His older brother was also taken to the same hospital for treatment to minor injuries before he was taken to Fairfield Police Station for questioning.

Police established a crime scene at the home and seized several items, including the rock used in the attack.

The 30-year-old man remains in police custody, assisting detectives with their investigation.
