Man accused of brutally beating his girlfriend after being released on bail

A MAN is back behind bars today, accused of brutally beating his girlfriend moments after being released on bail.

The 20-year-old man was arrested in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday after allegedly breaching existing bail conditions relating to a range of serious offences allegedly committed on Friday, September 29.

He was charged and refused bail by police before being released on bail in Coffs Harbour Local Court later that day.


Shortly after being released, the man allegedly hunted down his 21-year-old girlfriend and savagely beat her.

It’s alleged the 20-year-old choked the woman and repeatedly slapped and kicked her in a fit of rage.

After spending two days searching for the man, he was found by police at a motel in Korora on Friday night.

The man had been ordered by the court to remain in Coffs Harbour as part of his bail conditions.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of malicious damage and stalk/intimidate.

Police said the charges also relate to assaults against the same woman which allegedly occurred in September.

The 20-year-old was remanded in custody overnight and was due to front Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
