Man accused of giving ‘hash muffins’ to school kids

A man has been charged after two high school students became sick when they ate muffins allegedly laced with cannabis.

Police say the 19-year-old went to the school at Toronto, south of Newcastle, on Monday and handed out the baked goods.

Two students got sick and were taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Police were told and began an investigation before arresting the teenager at a home on Milford Street on Saturday.

He has been charged with supply prohibited drugs to face court in July.
